After completing a three-year diploma in computer data processing at Pretoria Technicon in 1993 he started his career in the IT industry as a technical support specialist. A year later he was appointed joint IT manager at Mustek Electronics Limited, South Africa’s leading branded assembler and distributor of PCs, notebooks and related products.
At Mustek he was responsible for the design, development and implementation of a fully customised end-to-end ERP system deployed across the listed company’s operations.
In 1997 he formed Andy Fensham & Associates (AFA), the forerunner of SCAD Software. AFA specialised in the delivery of customised software solutions in industries such as manufacturing, retail, banking and mining across applications such as customer relationship management, point-of-sale, credit management, operational risk management, value-add performance measurement, document generation and management and financial systems.

General Manager & Chief Operating Officer
A highly experienced IT professional with extensive practical knowledge of business solutions gained from in-depth involvement in a wide range of IT projects over many years.
He began as a software developer in the mainframe environment and in 1980 he was one of the co-founders, shareholders and an executive director of Unitech Limited, one of the largest and most successful IBM Business Partners in Southern Africa at the time. After Unitech was acquired by the IBM World Trade Corporation to become a wholly-owned IBM subsidiary in 1995, he was appointed general manager, information technology, of African Banking Corporation in Zimbabwe. Four years later he accepted an appointment as managing director of Reliant Computers in Harare.
In 2003 he moved to the United Kingdom to take up an appointment as a consultant and professional advisor to FAST Corporate Services (Federation Against Software Theft). In this role he consulted to more than 100 UK and US-based organisations on the formulation and dissemination of software management policies and procedures and conducted workshops for FAST member companies on software asset management and compliance.
In 2006 he joined Barclays Africa & Indian Ocean (BA&IO) when a new role was created to provide strategic and operational leadership and support to businesses throughout the region.
Towards the end of 2007 he joined SCAD Software.
Senior Systems Architect & Developer
After completing a diploma in Visual Basic programming as well as certification courses in Dynamic HTML and Java Script he pursued a highly successful career in Cape Town spanning the period from 2002 to 2004 when he worked primarily as an independent contractor.
During this period he was responsible for the design, development and maintenance of a large number of static and dynamic web sites on behalf of leading companies in a number of industries. This experience also enabled him to develop an extensive portfolio of skills in several programming languages, design tools and database systems, including SQL.
In 2005 he moved to Johannesburg to join a software development team that was responsible for developing a highly successful credit management system. His experience and proven skills in this area led to his recruitment by SCAD Software in 2007.

Business Development Manager
Brian started a distinguished 16-year career in mainstream journalism with the Independent Group (formerly the Argus Group) in Zimbabwe in 1967. During his career in journalism he held a number of executive editorial positions within the group’s premier newspaper titles in Zimbabwe and South Africa.
In 1983 he was recruited to become a shareholder and director of one of South Africa’s largest public relations and corporate communications consultancies at the time. In 1989 he was invited to join a major listed information technology group where he persued a successful eight-year career at executive level as group marketing director and as managing director of a group subsidiary.
In 1995 he left the IT industry to establish a marketing services company. He has played a major role in the establishment of a number of successful IT companies in South Africa.
After graduating with a BSc Computer Science Degree from the University of Johannesburg in 1994 he went on to complete his honours in 1995 and was awarded his masters degree in Computer Science from the same university in 1997.
In 1997 he joined Eskom as a software developer / analyst and was involved in the development of various business intelligence and decision support systems, including a human resources data warehouse solution and tariff analysis system that combined financial information from SAP with electricity network and customer information.
During his tenure at Eskom he also completed a doctorate in Computer Security : Information Privacy through the University of Johannesburg in 1999.
In 2001 he joined a leading international software integration and development company as a developer / analyst where he was involved in various projects on behalf of several major clients in the financial sector. These projects included the development of interfaces from various treasury systems to support credit risk management and Basel II compliance.
In 2007 he was assigned to the SARS modernisation project where he helped to develop a large master data solution as part of the project. A fast-paced project with short delivery deadlines and multiple releases per year, his involvement included analysis of user requirements, architecture and design, quality assurance testing and implementation.
During his working career he has gained extensive first-hand experience in a wide range of operating systems, programming languages, database systems, middleware environments and query tools.
He joined SCAD Software towards the end of 2011 where he plays a leading role in research and development, customised software development based on the SCAD Framework and business analysis.

After graduating with a BA Honours Degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of the Orange Free State in 1997, he went on to complete extensive technical and systems training in the information technology industry. He supplemented his technical IT training by attending numerous advanced international management training and management evaluation courses.
He launched his career in information technology in 1995 with Toshiba when he was appointed as head of online storage research, implementation and support.
In 1997 he joined a Microsoft subsidiary and formed part of a project migration and Year 2000 preparation team for a major petroleum company in Saudi Arabia.
In 2002 he was appointed to head up a team of more than 20 software developers commissioned to develop an e-commerce solution for a leading motor vehicle manufacturer’s operations across Europe and the Middle East.
In 2003 he joined Barclays Bank PLC Africa as a data analyst. Within the bank’s Africa and Indian Ocean region he went on to be appointed to senior executive positions responsible for business optimisation and operations.
In 2007 he was appointed operations manager at BMI Bank B.S.C. Bahrain based in Bahrain and in 2008 was seconded to a subsidiary in Nairobi, Kenya, to restructure the business and develop management information systems.
In 2009 he returned to South Africa to pursue personal business interests by establishing SDM Consulting, a company specialising in project and program management focussed on strategic business performance, business process improvement and compliance in the financial services and banking industry. SDM also specialises in the design, development and implementation of online marketing, sales and branding campaigns, social media management and search optimisation marketing management.
He joined SCAD Software in 2012 as a consulting executive and programme manager.
