Non-Executive Chairman

After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from The University of Natal (Durban) in 1971, he served articles with Deloittes in Zimbabwe and qualified as a CA in 1975. In 1976 he was promoted to audit manager and in 1978 was appointed as an audit partner.

In 1981 he left the auditing profession at the start of a distinguished 25-year career with the SAB Miller Group when he accepted the position of chief financial officer of Delta Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The South African Breweries, headquartered in Harare,.

In 1984 he moved into line management and became chairman of Delta’s retail portfolio and in 1986 was appointed CEO of Zimbabwe Sun, the corporation’s hotel and casino subsidiary. At that time Zimbabwe Sun was in a critical loss-making situation and needed a major change in strategy. Within four years of his appointment Zimbabwe Sun was successfully transformed into a substantial profit generator and listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange.

In 1990 he was transferred by SAB to South Africa to take control of Southern Sun Hotels which was suffering major losses at the time. It wasn’t long before Southern Sun, under his guidance, changed its business strategy and became a significant profit generator. He was also responsible for Southern Sun’s entry into the casino industry with the formation of Tsogo Sun, which became a major player in the industry.

During his career he also served on the main board of The South African Breweries and was appointed as an executive director of SAB Miller PLC when the company was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1999.

He served on the board of the South African Tourism Association (SATOUR) from 1992 until 1995 and from 1994 to1999 on the board of the International Association of Holiday Inn (IAHI), the body responsible for all Holiday Inn franchisees worldwide.

Since retiring from SAB Miller in 2006 he has lived overseas in France and the USA and in 2012 moved back to South Africa to pursue personal business interests.

Chief Executive Officer

After completing his tertiary education in computer data processing in 1993 he started his career in the IT industry as a technical support specialist. A year later he was appointed joint IT manager at Mustek Electronics Limited, South Africa’s leading branded assembler and distributor of PCs, notebooks and related products.

At Mustek he was responsible for the design, development and implementation of a fully customised end-to-end ERP system deployed across the listed company’s operations.

In 1997 he formed Andy Fensham & Associates (AFA), the forerunner of SCAD Software. AFA specialised in the delivery of customised software solutions in industries such as manufacturing, retail, banking and mining across applications such as customer relationship management, point-of-sale, credit management, operational risk management, value-add performance measurement, document generation and management and financial systems.

Alwyn Pelzer

Business Development

After the completion of a B.Com accounting degree in 1996 at North-West University (NWU), he started his career as an accountant in the public sector. During this period he was responsible for the implementation and management of new salary and revenue modules during the merger of the then Kanana town and Orkney city councils.

In 1997 he moved to the private sector and joined Clover Pty Ltd, during which time he held a number of positions in accounting and management accounting, business analysis and business information management. He was involved in the successful implementation of new ERP, financial and management information systems.

He subsequently embarked on a career in the financial sector in 2007 after accepting a position at Absa Bank where he fulfilled a number of roles in the business processes, small enhancement and project divisions.

After further self-education in web technologies such as PHP, HTML, Java Script and SQL, he started up his own web design and development business in 2012 before joining the SCAD Software team in 2014.

Phillippus Arnoldus van Achterbergh, better known as Arnau, is the currently Head of Sales of SCAD Software, bringing many years of experience as a Business Development Executive over multiple industries to the dynamic fold of the company.

His experience range from traditional corporate sales, through key account management to management of national and international successful sales model and industry experience range from IT, Consulting, Financial Sector, NGO,

With a professional passion to be a philanthropic businessman and uplift Africa as a whole, van Achterbergh is perfectly suited to his position at SCAD Software as a disrupter of traditional Information Technology.

As his greatest personal achievement, van Achterbergh lists his ability to have, at a relatively young age, become involved in a charity where he is making a real and lasting difference in the lives of so many people.
